Chef on Board was founded by Jonathan & Olivia Parker. After 10 years in publishing, Jonathan heeded the call of the kitchen and retrained as a chef at the world-famous Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, before settling in Herefordshire and setting up Chef on Board in 1999.
We started Chef on Board from our own kitchen, delivering a few prepared meals to our local village shop first and then to a few more shops in the local area. A year later we started our online business and began delivering our range of ready meals to shops and homes all over the country. In 2006, with business and family expanding rapidly, we moved the former into dedicated premises, allowing the latter back into the kitchen.
We now have our own in-house all-boy tasting panel, aged 11, 13 and 15, who have been brought up on a diet of cassoulet, thai curry and lamb tagine (although they remain entirely unconvinced of the merits, or indeed the point, of chickpeas...) and are more than happy to voice their opinions, Masterchef-style, on every meal put in front of them!
